Adopted at birth, fifteen-year-old Felicia Murphy has no idea she’s the offspring of a Fury and a god of Mercy. The discovery will soon shatter her world...

Felicia’s reputation as stable and trustworthy means everything if she’s to win the grant for the troubled kids she mentors.

Snakes emerging from her head, massive mood swings, and a strong thirst for vengeance do not fit into her plans. She has no time to worry about her adoptive parent’s separation and the unwanted discovery that her biological parents are supernatural freaks. She can’t confide in her friends; who would believe her?

As her life spins out of control, she allows herself to be distracted by the two new guys who are suddenly showering her with attention, pulling her in different directions.

Felicia has choices to make. Embrace the Fury and risk everything, or find a way to tame the beast.

Ryder *sigh*

I really liked this book. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought it worked really well. I enjoyed reading about the Furies and about Lord Mercy, and I did like Felicia a lot. She has more guts than some other YA female main characters, who don't seem to have much substance. She was a real character, with depth and integrity, and I liked her. And she had powers! I love a girl with powers.

What I liked:

* The book started well and ended well. The last third was great. It ended neatly - no cliffhanger or need to read another book to get resolution.

* I liked Ryder a lot, and Corey and Jade. Corey is a sweetie. Initially I didn't know what to make of Ryder, thinking he'd be a typical arrogant male lead who I'd want to punch, but he turned out lovely in the end. I don't want to give spoilers, but he was a great character. And he seemed gorgeous :)

* I thought the book was well written, and I didn't notice mistakes. I liked that it was about Furies, instead of vampires or werewolves. That was different, and kept me reading. It had an interesting story line, and a lot of substance.

What I didn't like:

None of these were big issues.

* We really never got a physical description of Felicia, which really annoyed me. About half way through we learn she has brown hair, but I don't know how tall she is, or her eye color. It would have helped me to visualise her much better if we got a physical description early on. I know that's hard to do in first person, but it would have improved the story.

* The book has a lot of short chapters, which got kind of annoying. It's not a technique I see often, and I don't think it worked that well. It didn't make me not enjoy the story, but the impact of a short chapter is taken away when there are a lot of them.

* I found the book a little uneven in the middle - kind of up and down and without a lot of direction - but it was wonderful in the latter third, so that sorted itself out. I didn't like the middle as much, but it was still really interesting and kept me reading.

* The font in the Kindle book is kind of ugly. I would have preferred a more standard font.

Overall, I really liked it, and would happily read the second book. I loved the ending! The last chapter was wonderful. I REALLY liked Ryder. Damn. He was great. I'm too old to be in love with a teenage boy, but DAMN :)

Teen Fury Unleashed eBook Amanda Torrey Reviews

This is a story teen girls can relate to quite well. I remember many of the feelings that Felicia expresses about family and the anger at her dad. (Not Mercy.) then you add the twist of her biological inheritance! What a great story! Very entertaining and it kept me glued to it! Thank you.
I was pleasantly surprised by a great teen read. So many are so similar, I can't remember one from the next. I am an adult, but I enjoy the quirkiness of the YA genre. Very few meet my standards however. I loved this one for the fact it was a bit different. Although most YA fall into dystopian, fey, paranormal, or mythological, the fact of an offspring of a fury and the God Mercy is original. I enjoyed the tug of war between the two immortals, as well as Felecia's struggle to overcome the entire weird ordeal and remain as normal as possible. I am excited to find out more of the characters and their motives in future novels. Keep the excitement Amanda Torrey! Definitely recommended for the US readers and the adults who enjoy the genre!
I enjoyed reading this book, and it leaves the opening for the next book in the series. The only problem I have with this book is that it is part of a series. I love that it was offered as a free book, but having to buy the rest of the series kinda sucks, but I think they may be worth the cost. Great character development, very entertaining and intriguing. This book is geared more for young adult readers, but even us older readers can relate to the things the main character is faced with.
Fast paced, never dull, this story moves along nicely. I like that the detail was just enough and the author didn't ramble on and on describing the surroundings and taking away from the story line.
All the characters worked well together. Felicia wasn't a spoiled brat who threw a fit or got herself into more trouble over and over. She learned from her mistakes quickly and stayed away from those who were not good for her. On to book 2!
I enjoyed the book. It was a little repetitive but not overly so. I would recommend it for young adults/teens. There is romance but no sex and there are issues kids deal with like divorce, hurting a friend, and being in your own head too much.

Overall Great book, fast paced and easy to read.
Stars 4 out of 5
This book is about a 15 year old girl named Felicia who is adopted at birth, no one ever could identify their birth parents, it's like she was materialized out of thin air, but what her adopted parents didn't know when they found her was that she wasn't only a baby, she was the daughter of two mythological creatures/gods, The Fury and The Mercy..... Luckily her life was pretty normal until she got her period for the first time and things started to change abruptly, she started to change and that's when the game begins...
I found myself pretty absorbed in the book, it's very well written and the idea is pretty original, it's not a paranormal book about mainstream creatures such as vampires, faeries, werewolfs, angels or demons, and I found that quite interesting. It's a page turner, and very easy to read and follow. I loved all the characters, and it was hard for me trying to decide which one I liked more, Zane, Ryder or Cory, despite being a huge fan of bad boys myself, in this one I have to choose Ryder! He has all that mysterious aura around him and it's like a mixture between bad boy and good boy and I'm looking forward to read more about him and Felicia in the future.
It was a great book and the only thing that made me rated it in 4 stars instead of 5 was the end, being a series it must have (IMO) a cliffhanger, something that would make me want to read the next one as soon as possible, and that wasn't what happened, the end is good and happy but I felt like it would be a perfect book if the end had something that would make the readers to count the days off until the next one.
I was given this book by the author in exchange of an honest review.
