This is a very interesting book. Beatrice Aflame is a Love Story, a Suspense novel, and a Satirical fiction, all rolled up in one great reading. This book also sheds lights on the past and present ideologies and struggles of the church.I graduated from a Catholic elementary, and a Catholic high school. So, I can understand some of the old fashion beliefs that the church still clings to. This book is definitely a must read.

"Beatrice Aflame" is wonderfully written. As the story unfolds, you can't help but hope for all to work out the way the protagonist (Beatrice) wishes it to be with her relationship with Father Whelan. In the story, Beatrice is torn between remaining an Episcopalian or becoming a Roman Catholic, and through her analyses of both religions, it shows aspects of Catholicism that is not often discussed publicly. For anyone who grew up within the Catholic religion, this story will resonate with you. I definitely recommend this book as it is both a tender love story as well as a commentary on the Catholic religion.

Beatrice Aflame is a well written and entertaining novel about the platonic relationship between a young New York woman and a Catholic priest. The boundaries of religious customs and moral responsibilities is skillfully explored by this author with the depth of human desire and emotion. This novel will surely keep you interested to the end.
Kimberly Labor's gifts as a storyteller and an observer of life are everywhere in this, her second novel. The eponymous protagonist's search for a spiritual home provides a fascinating parishioner's view of New York City's Catholic and Anglican churches. Thoughtful, philosophical and touching.
I got a chance to read this beautifully written novel on my winter vacation... I could hardly put it down!
